HOW TO BECOME A ROCK STAR

We focus on the steps it takes to become a professional musician:

1. Technique: Learning the instrument is the primary focus of the first year and this should be done with private lessons on the instrument, be it guitar, bass, drums, or keyboards.

2. Band Practice: Learning to play in a group setting, developing chemistry with other players, deciding on material, making the material unique. All these and more come into play when creating your band.

3. Performance and Promotion: The performance is laid out to the last detail at the end of twelve weeks. Then, let all your friends and family know about your show!

THE TEACHERS

We’ve got a great group of talented teachers including:
Richie Kindler: Guitar, Bass, Drums
Kevin Phillips: Bass and Vocals
Darren Thompson: Keyboards, Bass, and Drums
Michael Phillips: Drums
Greg Rice: Percussion

12 WEEKS TO "SWEET"

We’ll get together once a week, one on one for a half hour to work on your playing technique, then once a week for two hours we’ll get together with your band and rehearse material. This format enables you to develop individually as well as in the group. We focus on three primary areas in our sessions.

1. Music Theory: you’ve got to know the basics around counting time, scales, and the notes on your instrument to effectively communicate with other musicians.

2. Performance Anxiety: the basic fear of standing in front of a crowd strikes everybody the first time. This is natural. As you get more experience and your confidence on your instrument grows, it becomes as easy as brushing your teeth.

3. Spontaneity and expression: There are tricks of the trade that are time honored ways to add spunk to performances. Also learning songs note for note is not always the best. You’ll learn how to express your own unique personality on your instrument.

YOU CALL THE SHOTS

We’ve found that students respond best when they are having fun!
So, we let you choose the material you are going to learn, then we learn it!
Each member of the school of Rock will have the chance to contribute at least one song choice to the group’s repertoire.
Also, we greatly encourage originality, so if you’ve got a song idea, bring it to the table and we’ll get the whole band playing along!
